Babes in the Wood ‘Tools 4 Babes’ sessions

Babes in the Wood are back for 2022 with an exciting 4 week Spring programme of ‘Tools 4 Babes’ sessions, starting Tuesday 22nd February, 10.30 am.

For our Babes Tool Sessions we will be based within the Community Room at the Castlebank Horticultural Centre, Lanark.

In these sessions we will look at introducing children (both girls and boys) to some simple, fun tool activities, mostly indoors with some short outdoor activities weather permitting.

Tools are a excellent way for children to develop their manual dexterity and motor skills.  Hand-eye coordination is greatly improved and also a sense of fulfillment and achievement  as children learn life skills and imitate the activities of Mum and Dad. PLUS, it’s lots of fun!  Boys AND girls love using tools and being immersed in tasks and jobs like the big boys and girls.

Tools for Preschool children?  What can children realistically do that is safe and achievable? Our team have a wealth of experience working with preschool children and have drawn together a programme of fun tool activities for children to take part in over the 4 weeks that will engage and excite your childs learning.

 

These will include:

Working with hammers and nails in a safe manner

Weaving ribbons around hammered nails

Mini hedgehogs

.                                               

Simple stick puppets

Golf tee hammering fun (outdoors)

Whittling with potato peelers

Tool free play kits using tap art

.                                                     

 

Castlebank Park is a fantastic location with toilets and changing room available and within walking distance of Lanark town centre.

Sessions are £7 each for an adult and child and £2.50 for a additional sibling and are available as a block booking for Tuesday 2nd February until Tuesday 15th March.  These costs cover all art supplies for your child’s nature art creations.
