Forest School Sessions are run by fully qualified Level 3 Forest School Leaders with Outdoor First Aid Qualifications. The aim of Forest School is to help children forge a link with nature, connect to their local landscape and to be exposed to an element of risk that is not usually a part of normal 21st Century childhood such as climbing trees, using tools and lighting fires.  The risks are assessed by all leaders and deemed as safe as we can make them but the potential for accidents is present.

The nature of forest school is to introduce tool use and fire lighting through the sessions when deemed appropriate.  Please could you indicate your childs level of knowledge with any tool use and general dexterity so that we can assess the level of care needed when introducing these topics.  0 is absolutely none with minimal dexterity and 3 being proficient in tool use and able to complete tasks with minimal adult supervision.

For attendance at any of our family session or if present at a session through volunteering, parents/carers of the children are fully responsible for their child throughout the session.

All of our sites and activities are fully risk assessed before children attend sessions.  However, Wild Things cannot be held responsible for any accidents that may occur on site.

Additional information

  • Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather conditions, messy play and woodland activities. This may well require waterproof trousers and wellies or possibly a change of clothes
  • We often provide a small snack at sessions but if your child is likely to be hungry please provide water and a snack for them to bring along.
  • There must be NO parking under any circumstances at the site, as it is imperative that access is maintained for the farm at all times. There is space to park at the bottom of the road for drop off and picking up with a small walk up to the site.

Thank you

We have now also added a Covid 19 Policy and would be grateful if you could read over it and confirm you have read it by signing at the end of the document, thank you
