Four Seasons Saturday Club September Session

September 25 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

£10

Nature Writing Workshop

Hello and welcome to our September session which will be all about using natural materials to create ways to write and communicate.  In the Biggar Little Quarry we have an abundance of elderberries and we will be using both the branches and the berries to create charcoal pencils to write with and the berries can be crushed to make inks and dyes.

We’ll also be using some feathers to create natural quill pens and experimenting with a range of dyes made from herbs, spices, coffee and berries and mushrooms.  Please do let us know of any allergies prior to the session starting.

The children are asked to bring a packed lunch for half way through the session and for this autumnal session we will also be making hot chocolate and toasting marshmallows over the fire.  Looking forward to welcoming you all into the woods again.

Our Four Seasons group helps children to connect with nature and the green spaces that are local to their homes.  We run activities that reflect the seasons of the year and use the bounty of the woodland over the Spring/Summer and Autumn.

We have 2 dates remaining for the year:

Saturday 25th September

Saturday 30th October (Halloween Special)

Over the course of the sessions we will be learning some simple bushcraft techniques and using tools to embark with the children on some simple greenwoodworking projects.  The aim of the group is to build up these skills over the 6 sessions and this is why we would encourage children to attend for the 6 sessions as a block, although individual sessions for this group are available.

Tickets for Four Seasons Individual Session Saturday 25th September

Sensible clothing and footwear is a must, the sessions are held in a forest environment where the ground is uneven, the weather can be wet and children can get muddy.  Sessions may also be cancelled in extreme weather and will be rescheduled.
